Five Questions With Our Founder: Cindy Kasindorf

Blog

Cindy launched Remedy Organics in 2017 and was guided by Hippocrates’ words, “Let Food be Thy Medicine and Medicine be Thy Food”. With her background as a Certified Nutritional Health Counselor, she discovered the healing properties of natural superfoods. Today, her protein-packed Wellness Shakes are changing the way people think about functional nutrition. Remedy Organics products are truly multi-functional and packed with adaptogenic herbs, superfoods and ayurvedics - providing health and wellness benefits that go well beyond general nutrition. Cindy also believes in complete transparency, which is why all of Remedy Organics’ products list the ingredients front and center.

1. What inspired you to start Remedy Organics?

My inspiration to start Remedy Organics began with my lifelong passion for health and wellness. I have always looked to ancient wisdom and would always turn to natural remedies instead of a medicine cabinet for healing and prevention. I would make wellness shakes for my friends who encouraged me to share them with as many people as possible. Their support inspired me to start Remedy Organics, and today, we are making functional plant-based nutrition convenient and accessible for everyone.

2. What challenges did you face when you were first starting? What keeps you inspired?

When launching Remedy Organics, I started out of my home kitchen making these non-dairy protein shakes, and I didn’t realize how quickly we would grow. I took way too many orders. I worked non-stop around the clock for several months, and it felt like there was no end in sight. It was all so labor and time intensive, and I was juggling so many roles. Along with carefully crafting the beverages, I was meeting with buyers, making deliveries, handling all the sales, and establishing our marketing and branding. But, with my sheer determination and an amazing team behind me, we managed to get through those early days!

I continue to be inspired by our consumers and the positive impact we have had on their lives. Most recently, I received an email with a subject line that said, “Thank you for changing my life.” This woman had a debilitating chronic illness, but our shakes have enabled her to get out of bed and play with her granddaughter. Her quality of life has tremendously improved, and stories like that motivate me to continue working hard by making functional nutrition accessible to all.

3. As a founder and a mother with four kids, how do you manage your work/life balance?

My work/life balance improved tremendously when my husband, Henry, joined me on this journey a few years ago. Today, I focus on my core strengths of product formulation and brand development while Henry leads our sales, operations, and finance teams. We never planned on working together, but it has been a blessing, both personally and professionally. And, with four kids, we are very conscious about turning off our phones when it is our family time.

4. What’s next for Remedy Organics?

We know that our consumers are seeking out products with clean ingredients, and products that can easily be incorporated into their daily routines. We are always innovating and developing new products to meet these evolving needs of our consumers. We are also currently seeing very high demand from our consumers for our 3-Day Remedy Reset Cleanse as cleansing strengthens the immune system by eliminating toxins and infuses the body with vitamins, minerals, and nutrients.

Although we can’t share all the new and exciting things we have in the works, please stay tuned! Be sure to follow @remedyorganics on Instagram or sign up for our email newsletter to hear the latest news.

5. What lessons do you have for other founders?

Starting a business is the most challenging experience imaginable, but it is also the most rewarding. Sometimes, it can feel so overwhelming and you might feel like giving up, but you can push through and clear those hurdles. If you stay persistent, it will all pay off in the end. When you are a founder, your to-do list is endless - that’s why it is so important to manage your time wisely and to know what truly motivates you. It can be and will be hard at times, but a healthy work-life balance is possible when you surround yourself with the right team.

In Good Health,
